Installation Recommendations ˇ 30" maximum wall height with 3" below grade for retained situations or consult a licensed professional engineer for your particular application. ˇ Base should be 14"-16" wide by 6" deep and well compacted. ˇ For base and backfill, use multiple sized crushed stone ranging from 1/4" - 1 1/2" in size with less than 10% fines. ˇ Lay a flexible drain pipe the length of the wall to relive hydrostatic water pressure from building up behind a retaining wall. (see illustration above). ˇ Offset vertical joints of units to maximize wall strength. (see A below) ˇ When stones are stacked vertically on 4" side, another stone should be placed behind it to create an 8" wall thickness. (see B below) ˇ Vertical stones exposing the 4h face should protrude the full 12h toward the bank in retaining wall situations (see C below) ˇ Filter fabric can be used to separate clean gravel backfill from topsoil. ˇ Consider using integrated columns or pilasters for strength in free-standing and retaining walls. (see picture in lower left below) ˇ Use SRW masonry adhesive or equivalent to adhere at least the top two rows.
